Salary Of Loco Pilot

Normally, whichever employee’s duty, whether it is day or night. They have a fixed routine, there are fixed hours. Wherein they have a daily scheduled life. But, Loco Pilots unlike normal employees don’t follow the roster of 9-5.

How Much Working Hours Take?

Loco Pilots are given a roster of 14 days wherein, they are given 2 days rest And in these 14 days, they need to work for 104 Hours i.e On an average, 8 – 8.5 hours a day. This doesn’t mean that On whichever day, they complete 8 Hours, Then their duty is over. These people sometimes work for 8, or 10 Or sometimes 12 hours, they keep riding the train And not only this.

A normal person after his duty will directly go home and will come the next day. They will be given 6-8 hours of rest and might be called for duty again. In these 8 hours, they manage bathing, eating, sleeping, drinking etc. It is not necessary that this rest needs to be given at home.

Once they leave from house, they only head back after 3-4 days. Due to this, their family life also becomes difficult. Friends, apart from Loco Pilots, there are TT’s, Guard, RPF Staff, AC Coach Attendant are also present. Who do the same amount of irregular duties. But we need to think that, Their responsibility isn’t much and neither is their job so stressful and attentive TT, RPF Staff and Coach Attendants also get a berth to sleep But our poor loco Pilots do not even have a washroom Lunch and Dinner is for later I shall mention.

Overtime And Entry level Salary.

Their Entry Level Salary 7th Pay Commission, As per Level 10, is approximately Rs 50 – 60,000/- And when they are promoted, become the division head That means once they become DRM As per the current scenario, their salary becomes approximately Rs 1,50,000 or Rs 1,60,000.

And If we talk about Loco Pilots When they come to entry level Then their designation is ALP i.e Assistant Loco Pilot Which comes at 7th Commission’s Level 2 As per that, their average salary should be around Rs 25,000 But here the role is their tough duty Due to their tough duty, Railways have given a lot of allowances to them In which, the hugest one is the Running Allowance That means an Entry Level ALP, .

Allownaces

In 100 km running, gets paid approximately Rs 300 Allowance.

Along with that, they are paid over overtime i.e whenever their duty hours exceeds more than 104 hours in 14 days. Apart from these, there are more allowances. Like Night Duty Allowance, NH Allowance to work on holidays Dress Allowance, Leave Allowance etc Which are given to them specially.

If we add these allowances and take an average, Then an Entry Level ALP receives Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000, which is equal to an Entry Level UPSC Civil Service Railway Officer If we have a look at it, then a Loco Pilot’s Salary is more than their boss If you are shocked listening to this, then listen to this.
